Peter Attia | Imagine You Are 80 Years Old

Peter Attia is a Canadian-American physician. He was recently on the Joe Rogan podcast where he shared what he called, ‘The greatest piece of advice.’

He said, “Anytime you feel yourself getting frustrated with your kids, just close your eyes and imagine you are 80 years old, and you have a time machine that is bringing you right back to this moment, and this is the only moment that you will get with them again.”

He then said, “It totally changes everything. It’s like, ‘I can take this all day long.’”

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

1 - What is your biggest takeaway from this video?

2 - When you are 80 years old and talking to your kids, what do you hope they say about you?

Kim Mulkey | Every Team Has a Culture

In the video below, national champion basketball coach Kim Mulkey talks about culture.

“Every team has a culture. Good or bad, every team has a culture. While a good culture doesn’t guarantee a championship, a bad culture nearly guarantees that you won’t win one.

As coaches, we can only control so much. We can influence it, preach about it, and model it, but we can’t 100% control it. Control of the culture ultimately falls on your players, the buy-in of it, and what happens when you aren’t around.

There is a growing concern in our culture about the word ‘entitlement.’ The cold, hard truth is that not everyone is going to play every minute of every game. Each role is important to the success of the team. Your role is different from your value. Great teams and players understand that roles are constantly changing for the betterment of the team. Are you willing to buy in and sacrifice?”

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

1 - What is your biggest takeaway from the video?

Damian Lillard | BODY LANGUAGE

Damian Lillard is an NBA All-star. In the video below, he talks about body language, leadership, and how to handle adversity the right way.

Lillard said:

“Your body language - when you miss a shot, when you throw the ball away, your teammate throws a bad pass, or somebody misses you - you have to learn how to not be emotional about every play that happens.
I get mad sometimes too. I’m not perfect, and it happens to all of us, but it’s minimal.”

2 - When you miss a shot, when you throw the ball away, your teammate throws a bad pass, or somebody misses you, how do you respond? What does your body language say?

Deion Sanders | WHO WE RECRUIT

Deion Sanders is a former NFL Pro Bowler who is attacking the college football world as the head coach of the University of Colorado.

In the video below, he talks about the type of players he recruits. He said:
